Pat
O’Brien’s International, a New Orleans based
corporation, announced today that Pat O’Brien’s
Memphis, an independently owned franchise since 2002,
closed the doors permanently on Saturday August 9,
2008.
“We are extremely disappointed about the closure.
We expected a long life in Memphis,” said Shelly
Oechsner Waguespack an officer of the company. “After
the principal owner passed away in 2006, management and
owners just weren’t able to sustain the business. They
did their best to overcome adversity, but ultimately, it
didn’t happen. We hope the best for all
involved.”
Pat
O’Brien’s, the famed New Orleans institution since 1933
celebrating 75 years in December began franchising in
1991 in Cancun, Mexico. Proven a success, the company
branched out to Universal Studios Orlando, San Antonio,
Memphis and anticipate opening in Destin, Florida
October 2008. With the exception of the Memphis
location, Pat O’Brien’s International is very excited
about the achievement of all locations and looks forward
to many more successful
franchises.
